Conversation-Focused English for 6th–7th Grades

Level 1 — Beginner

What will we learn in this program?

Grades 6–7 · Level 1 — Beginner
12 weeks · 24 lessons · Each lesson is 40 minutes

For students who are new to English or have difficulty using what they have learned at school in conversation. We support them in turning basic expressions into their own sentences through age-appropriate topics and daily communication tasks.

By the end of the program, we aim for our students to:

• Introduce themselves; provide information about their age, where they live, and their school, and ask questions to others,
• Introduce their family and friends with short sentences,
• Talk about their interests, activities they like and dislike,
• Express their daily routines and a few activities they do after school with simple sentences,
• Talk about actions they can and cannot do,
• Politely ask for something in class or in a daily situation,
• Ask for repetition or help when they do not understand,
• Participate in a short conversation on familiar topics.

Students become both the person asking questions and the person answering through short dialogues, role-plays, and pair tasks. Support is provided with Turkish explanations, visuals, and example phrases when necessary. Our priority is for them to try speaking without fear of making mistakes and to use what they know in communication.

12-Week Program Content

Grades 6–7 · Level 1 — Beginner
2 lessons per week · 24 lessons in total · 40 minutes per lesson

  1. Week 1 — Introductions and First Conversations
We introduce ourselves by stating our names, ages, where we live, and our grade. We ask each other questions in pair-work introduction tasks.
“Hi, I’m Deniz. I’m twelve. I live in Ankara. What about you?”

  2. Week 2 — What Do I Say When I Don’t Understand?
We describe how we feel and practice asking for repetition, clarification, and help. We use these expressions throughout the program.
“Can you say that again, please? What does that mean? Can you help me?”

  3. Week 3 — My Family and Close Circle
We provide brief information about our family members and relatives. We answer simple questions about their names, ages, and interests.
“This is my brother. He’s fifteen. He likes basketball.”

  4. Week 4 — Introducing My Friend
We have a short conversation with a friend and share the information we learned with the group.
“This is Ece. She lives in İzmir. She likes music.”

  5. Week 5 — My Interests
We talk about our preferences regarding music, games, sports, and other activities. We ask questions to find our common interests.
“Do you like video games? I like listening to music. What’s your favourite sport?”

  6. Week 6 — What Can I Do?
We talk about actions we can and cannot do. We discover each other's skills through pair-work tasks.
“I can play the guitar. Can you cook? Not yet!”

  7. Week 7 — My School Day
We describe activities we do often at school and have short conversations about our favourite subjects.
“I go to school in the morning. My favourite subject is science.”

  8. Week 8 — After School
We sequence the basic activities in our daily routine. We share information about studying, resting, and our hobbies.
“After school, I have a snack. Then I do my homework.”

  9. Week 9 — Food and My Preferences
We ask and state our preferences regarding food and drinks. We make choices from a simple menu.
“I like sandwiches. I don’t like coffee. What would you like?”

  10. Week 10 — Asking Politely
We ask for an item or food in the classroom, at a cafe, and in daily life. We practice responding to requests and saying thank you.
“Can I have some water, please? Can I use your pen? Here you are.”

  11. Week 11 — Short Conversations from Real Life
We role-play situations such as introducing ourselves, finding common interests, asking for help, and ordering food. We try different responses by switching roles.

  12. Week 12 — Describing Myself in My Own Words
We give a short presentation about ourselves, our close circle, and our daily lives. We answer simple questions from our friends and ask them questions.

Each week, previous expressions are reused in new speaking tasks. Support is provided through visuals, keywords, and example sentences. As students become ready, this support is reduced; the pace of the lessons is adapted according to the group's needs.

Lesson and Registration Information

Is this level suitable for my child?

Level 1 is for students in grades 6–7 who are new to English or have difficulty using what they have learned at school in conversation.

The fact that a student can solve vocabulary and grammar questions does not mean they will start speaking from the same point. If they need support to introduce themselves, talk about their interests, and answer simple questions with their own sentences, Level 1 is a suitable starting point. They do not need to know English beforehand.

Lesson environment
Lessons are held live via Zoom in small groups of 6–8 people. Every child is given the opportunity to ask questions, answer, and construct their own sentences. Children do not remain just as listeners; they actively participate in games, role-plays, and conversations.

As students begin to use the expressions they have learned, they move on to pair practice under the teacher's guidance. Thus, they establish short dialogues with their friends, take turns speaking and listening, and use what they have learned in communication.

Learning continues outside of class

Our program is not limited to live lessons. Daily short tasks, worksheets, and speaking practices are provided for students to use what they have learned throughout the week. Thus, English ceases to be a subject they only encounter during lesson hours and becomes a part of their daily lives.

All worksheets and digital materials we offer within the scope of the program are included in the program fee. The applications we recommend to support practice also consist of free-to-use options; no additional application fees are required.

Calendar and pricing
The start date, lesson days, lesson times (in Turkey time), and pricing information will be shared here once finalized.
