B2 — Develop and Discuss Your Ideas

What Will We Learn in This Program?

We support adults who can express their thoughts on familiar topics in a connected way to make more detailed explanations and participate in conversations involving different viewpoints. We work on justifying opinions, evaluating options, and flexibility in communication.

  • Identifying common ground and differences of opinion in a discussion.

  • Contributing to a common conclusion by evaluating multiple suggestions.

Communication in Social and Business Life

  • Explaining a problem, its effects, and solution options in detail.

  • Presenting a suggestion, answering questions, and elaborating on the explanation when necessary.

  • Resolving misunderstandings with different expressions and examples.

  • Choosing more formal or informal expressions depending on the situation.

  • Joining the conversation at the right time, taking turns, and giving the floor to others.

Experiences and Presentations

  • Narrating an experience or event with important details in a clear sequence.

  • Giving a short presentation on a topic consisting of an introduction, main points, and a conclusion.

  • Responding to questions during a presentation and using filler phrases to gain time to think when necessary.

  • Summarizing the main points in a text or conversation and adding one's own commentary.

Listening, Reading, and Writing

  • Following main ideas and supporting details in clearly structured conversations.

  • Identifying the author's opinion and reasoning in texts about current topics and areas of interest.

  • Writing clear and connected texts that support an opinion or compare options.

  • Using appropriate tone in emails containing information, requests, or solution suggestions.

Learning Support

The transition to discussions is facilitated through short texts, listening examples, and speaking preparation. Opportunities to communicate with different people are provided through pair tasks, role-plays, and small group discussions. Clarity, fluency, vocabulary choice, and organization of expression are improved through feedback.
