School and Daily Life English in Canada

Expressing Yourself in a New Country

We support Turkish children and youth who have newly arrived in Canada in communicating in English at school, with friends, and in daily life.

We role-play real-life situations in class, such as asking a teacher for help, meeting friends, joining a game, and asking for clarification on an instruction they didn't understand. We help students build their own sentences using age- and level-appropriate activities, visuals, and Turkish support when necessary.

English Practice with Math and Science

In the program, math and science are also included as weekly themes appropriate for age and level. For example, during the “Math in English” week, students use English expressions related to the four operations; they practice understanding simple questions, explaining steps of operations, and explaining their answers.

In science themes, activities are conducted on observing, comparing, and expressing results in English through topics such as weather, living things, materials, and simple experiments.

Thus, while students use English in meaningful tasks connected to different subjects, they also gain familiarity with the language they might encounter in a Canadian classroom environment.
